The carsales Network operates across seven Australian industries, each with their own dedicated website. These include automotive (carsales.com.au), motorcycles (bikesales.com.au), marine (boatsales.com.au), caravan and camping (caravancampingsales.com.au), commercial transport (trucksales.com.au), equipment (constructionsales.com.au) and farming (farmmachinerysales.com.au).  

Licensed Australian dealers can subscribe and advertise on the carsales Network, listing items for sale on the websites relevant to their industry. These industries include automotive, motorcycles, marine, caravan and camping, commercial transport, commercial equipment and farming. Private sellers may also list on a per inventory items basis. 

The carsales Network is unique in its approach to selling inventory online. For the buyer, it is all about the inventory item regardless of the seller. Therefore, we do not display the seller’s details until the buyer has placed an enquiry on that item. This is classified as a lead for the seller. This lead can be placed via an online enquiry or via phone, both are located on the details page of the inventory item. Any lead is then located against the inventory item within the dealers AutoGate account.  

As part of a carsales Network subscription, the dealer will receive access to their own AutoGate account. AutoGate is an online prospect and inventory management system, with many additional tools and features, designed to streamline a dealers’ online sales and operations. Accessible via desktop and app, users can manage inventory or potential buyers at anytime, anywhere. 

For dealers who are currently utilising a Dealer Management System (DMS) to manage their inventory, we may facilitate a direct data feed from your DMS, through AutoGate, and straight onto your chosen website. Currently, we work with over 20 DMS systems in the Australian market. 

The monthly fee includes an AutoGate licence, which assists in loading all your inventory, lead management, and access to many more effective tools and features. In addition, dealers receive Account Management, AutoGate training support and Help Desk assistance. 30 days written notice is all that is required, should you wish to cancel the service. 

The pay per enquiry model means the dealer pays for each customer enquiry they receive on a specific inventory item listed for sale. This is an effective billing model because the dealer only ends up paying based on the number of enquiries they receive per ad.  

The pay per listing model means a dealer pays a fee for each inventory item listed for sale. The dealer will also be able to receive enquiries on those listings. The key difference is that the listing fee is valid for a 28-day period, or a maximum of 5 enquiries received against the listing.

After the listing reaches 28 days or has received 5 enquiries, whichever comes first, the item will be automatically delisted. The dealer can then relist the item again with a new charge. 

Like inventory, all enquiries are sent and stored within your AutoGate account. Here you will be able to access, contact, manage and report on every enquiry that comes through from any of the relevant carsales Network websites.
