carsales today announced the launch of its ‘carsales Approved’ certified vehicle program.

Leveraging the resources and expertise of RedBook Inspect, this new carsales product delivers dealers the opportunity to brand pre-owned vehicles as ‘carsales Approved’ on carsales.com.au to empower consumers to shop these vehicles more confidently and with greater peace of mind.

In order for a vehicle to be branded as carsales Approved, it must pass the following stringent criteria:

  • Receive a RedBook Inspect inspection star rating of over 4 (out of five)
  • Travelled less than 160,000km
  • Be less than 10 years old

Dealers can choose to have some or all of their inventory inspected to achieve this status.

Vehicles with a carsales Approved vehicle inspection report are marked on carsales.com.au with an ‘Approved’ badge that’s highly visible at both search result and detailed view levels.

Consumers can also refine their search to vehicles that have been carsales Approved.

RedBook Inspect CEO Barry Freeman is excited by the potential of this program to deliver better outcomes for both consumers and dealers.

“carsales Approved is designed to give consumers extra confidence to purchase pre-owned cars,” says Freeman.

“From a dealer’s point of view the program should enable consumers to shop carsales Approved vehicles with greater peace of mind which in turn should assist dealers with stock turn.

“We believe it’s a win-win – more satisfied buyers and improved dealer profitability,” Freeman stated.

With pandemic-based restrictions and a move to digital retailing, ‘buy at home’ functionality and programs such as carsales Approved are destined to play a more prominent role in car buying.

“Assessing the condition of used vehicles can be tricky at the best of times,” says carsales Executive Director – Dealer, Michael Holmes.

“Transparency around a vehicle’s condition from a reputable third party delivers greater buyer confidence, especially when it’s more difficult to view cars in person,” Holmes commented.
