A major new boat show is coming to Sydney’s Darling Harbour in 2027. Global events company Informa, behind some of the world’s biggest marine shows, has launched the Australian International Boat Show, raising questions about what it means for the Sydney Boat Show and Sanctuary Cove
Informa is no stranger to big boat shows. The company runs Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Miami and the Monaco Yacht Show, so its decision to plant a flag in Sydney is not a casual one.
The Australian International Boat Show opens on 29 July 2027, running through to 1 August. Informa has already secured dates for the five years that follow. That kind of forward commitment changes the conversation around the existing show landscape.
The Sydney Boat Show, run by the Boating Industry Association, held its 2026 edition from 30 June to 2 August. If those dates repeat in 2027, the clash with Informa’s event is direct. Sanctuary Cove has already locked in May 2027 dates, so its position is clearer. boatsales
On the venue, ICC Sydney will host a substantial indoor exhibition covering trailer boats, smaller craft, engines, marine technology, accessories, equipment, services and lifestyle products, while Cockle Bay next door provides on-water space for larger vessels. boatsales
Informa Australia Managing Director Spiro Anemogiannis outlined the ambition: “We see a genuine opportunity to create an event that not only serves the boating public and supports exhibitors but also contributes to the long-term growth and sustainability of Australia’s recreational marine sector.” boatsales
The scale of the opportunity is significant. Australia has more than 2.6 million boat licence holders and over 900,000 registered boats, and the new event is designed to reflect the diversity of the Australian boating community. boatsales
The Australian International Boat Show arrives in Sydney from 29 July to 1 August 2027. For marine dealers and industry businesses, it represents a genuinely new platform to connect with consumers and trade buyers at scale. Whether it reshapes the broader show calendar remains to be seen, but with five years of dates already confirmed, Informa is clearly here to stay.
