At carsales our focus remains on driving both buyers and value to our dealer partners through continuous improvements and innovations. Read on below as we reflect on the key achievements and initiatives from the second quarter of 2024 and what’s on the horizon.
In the last quarter, carsales maintained a strong focus on cyber security. While Blocko remains a critical defence against spam leads, we shared essential content on identifying illegitimate leads, differentiating between scam and spam leads, and the importance of utilising carsales’ new manual review processes. This ensures that your dealership’s time and resources are dedicated to genuine opportunities, enhancing the quality of leads and driving value to your business.
Expect more security-based content in the coming months as we continue to prioritise this crucial area, ensuring that your operations remain protected and up to date with the latest news in the space.
The Toyota RAV4 was the top-selling vehicle for the month with 5933 sales, representing a massive increase of 115% compared to the same month a year prior. It’s an all-time record in a single month for the in-demand SUV, with the majority of RAV4 sales now hybrids.
Last year, Toyota was still grappling with long vehicle delivery times for popular vehicles such as the RAV4, a hangover from pandemic-related production stoppages and semiconductor shortages, but delivery times have dropped from years to months insists Toyota, which will continue to bear fruit for the brand for the remainder of 2024.
While the Ford Ranger was the second-best-selling vehicle in Australia in July with 4915 units, sales were off slightly (down 4.4%), but 4747 Toyota HiLux, 2688 Toyota Corolla, and 2464 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series sales were all trending northwards, with the Corolla and LandCruiser recording significant 25 and 16 per cent increases compared to the year prior.
Throughout 2024, significant investments have been made in our LiveMarket offering, with a host of improvements finding their way to the platform in the last quarter. In May, we launched a campaign highlighting the value of our real-time, first-party data. Fresh data directly from the source is always best! Enhancements to the LiveMarket valuations page and updates to our LiveMarket Insights UI are part of our ongoing commitment to innovation. The revamped Inventory and Valuations page now provides more data points, improving the user experience and allowing dealers to make more informed decisions quickly. This directly translates to better pricing strategies and inventory management, driving more value to your dealership.
Our AutoGate iOS app also received notable updates. It’s now possible to request and view Sourcing Remote Inspections within the app. Additionally, the Dealer Drive – Test Drive prospect integration now mirrors the features of the AutoGate Web version. These updates ensure a consistent user experience between desktop and mobile, enhancing dealer operations and improving efficiency. By streamlining these processes, we help you deliver a better service to your customers, attracting more buyers and retaining their loyalty.
Our development teams continuously work hard behind the scenes to evolve the front-end website experience and last quarter, we completed a major project to reimagine the buying and research experience across carsales. Following extensive testing, the new search layout has been fully rolled out on desktop and laptop computers that make for a smoother, more intuitive search experience that encourages potential buyers to engage more deeply with your listings, increasing the likelihood of sales. This update reflects our commitment to continuously evolving our UX to deliver an innovative, user-centric approach, ultimately driving more buyers to you.
Last quarter, we reached out to our dealer customers for feedback, which is crucial for planning our roadmaps and enhancing our service offerings. Key themes from the survey results include improving the foundations of AutoGate, enhancing our mobile app for better stability and login issues, and exploring AI opportunities across our solutions.
We will collaborate closely with dealers on these developments, inviting customers to test these improvements. Additional topics like the transition to EVs, security and lead quality, and predictive analytics are also on our radar for further investigation. We are grateful for the candid feedback provided by our customers, which helps us continually improve and ensure we are delivering maximum value to your dealership.
We’re excited about the work we have in the pipeline addressing both the feedback flagged by our partners, as well as enhancing our tools and solutions over the quarter to come. If you have any questions about the products covered in this update, please contact your carsales representative.
