‘Accelerating Women into Automotive’ program will provide comprehensive training and real-world experiences

A new Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (VACC) initiative, backed by the Victorian Department of Education and Training, will significantly boost employment opportunities for women in the automotive industry.

The VACC has long championed female participation in the auto space, its ‘Women In Automotive’ unit first established in 1999.

‘Accelerating Women into Automotive’ takes the next step, with funding secured from the Victorian state government’s Apprenticeship Innovation Fund to turbocharge interested women into auto industry apprenticeships.

The program targets females who are curious about the industry, providing them four weeks of ‘intensive and engaging’ training and experiences, then matching interested parties to a range of apprentice-seeking automotive businesses.

According to the VACC media release, participants will receive training at a Registered Training Provider, assistance in getting work placement in an appropriate workplace and help through the apprenticeship process… all while picking up car maintenance skills.

Businesses set to benefit

Any automotive business that provides work placement under this program will receive free employee diversity training, as well as pole position when it comes to offering apprenticeships to any participants they take on under the work placement initiative. Visit the program’s web home for more information and contact details.
