After a big few days at AADA, I wanted to share a few reflections, and a quick look at what’s ahead for carsales.

A clear theme from the event was the pace of change. Customer expectations are evolving fast, AI is beginning to shift how people search and shop, new Chinese OEMs and entrants are expanding the competitive landscape, and all of this is playing out amidst the backdrop of a tense global economy. Staying focused and working together is key to navigating what’s next. 

It was great to catch up with many of you at the event and hear what’s top of mind for your businesses. Whether you were able to attend the event or not, thank you for your ongoing support and trust in carsales. 

We’re looking ahead with purpose and continuing to invest in smarter technology, better experiences, and sharper insights to help you stay ahead.

A platform built around your needs 

At the Chairman’s Dinner, I spoke about AutoGate undergoing its biggest evolution yet. For those who couldn’t be there, here’s a look at some of the powerful updates rolling out, all designed to help you move stock faster, improve margins, and equip your team to convert more with less effort. 

Making every lead count 

  • Call transcription is now live, allowing sales teams to revisit key conversations and reduce risk of missing the details that move deals forward
  • AI-powered summaries will be released soon, helping you quickly identify sales signals or missed objections from previous conversations.
  • In app voice calling is launching soon to help build trust from the first call. Carsales app users will see the dealership name and car of interest making them more likely to pick up and less likely to mistake it for a scam

A better experience for buyers

We’ve made meaningful enhancements to the retail site and app that are already delivering results:

  • Customised homepages now highlight a buyer’s recent enquiries and similar inventory upfront
  • AI-driven vehicle recommendations based on behaviour that help lift relevancy and click-through

Behind the scenes, our proprietary spam mitigation system, Blocko, is lifting lead quality and confidence. It’s backed by:

  • Smart tech and rule-based logic
  • A dedicated human review team
  • Purpose-built infrastructure
 

Better tools to source and value inventory

With new insights from LiveMarket, fleet valuations, the launch of Acquire, and our first Industry Insights Report now live, we’re helping you find, price, and manage stock more effectively, all in one place. 

LiveMarket now also includes a visual guide to estimated time to sell and an integrated AI assistant that answers key questions about pricing, competition, and market timing. 

Investing in content, brand and what comes next

As we head into the second half of the year, you’ll continue to see more enhancements roll out – and that investment goes beyond product.

I’m genuinely looking forward to what’s ahead for the carsales brand. You’ll see us showing up in more places where our buyers are, with greater relevance, consistency, and impact.

Behind the scenes, we’ve been reshaping our content approach, and the results are already speaking for themselves. In June alone, we saw over 2.2 million YouTube views (up 17% YoY) and a 698% YoY uplift in Instagram video views (yes, almost 700%!!), contributing to more than 5.4 million average monthly views across our channels.
