BMW Group has announced the appointment of Steven Dunn as General Manager of BMW Motorrad Australia, effective 1 January 2025

This leadership change follows a record-breaking year for BMW Motorrad Australia, which achieved an all-time high of 3,549 motorcycle sales in 2024, underscoring the brand’s robust position in the local market.

Steven Dunn brings over three decades of automotive expertise to his new role. After more than 20 years at Nissan Motor Company, he joined BMW Group in 2019 as Head of Training and Retail HR. During his tenure, he introduced an OMNI-channel training solution that transformed the brand’s digital training processes. He also spearheaded the creation of BMW Group’s award-winning apprenticeship program, equipping future technicians with skills in both combustion engine and electric vehicle technology.

In 2022, Dunn was appointed Head of Technical Operations and Customer Quality, leading enhancements in roadside assistance, warranty services, and customer relations. His efforts were instrumental in rolling out the global “Proactive Care” pilot program, a digital-first initiative designed to enhance customer support and elevate experiences with the brand.

According to BMW Group Australia CEO Wolfgang Buechel, Dunn’s experience and passion make him the ideal choice for this pivotal role.

“Steve’s 30 years of automotive experience, proven leadership, strategic vision, and deep connection to motorcycles make him the ideal choice to lead BMW Motorrad Australia as we continue to expand in this dynamic and exciting market,” Buechel said.

Dunn’s passion for motorcycles dates back to his youth and remains a central part of his life. He is an avid on- and off-road rider, with the BMW F 900 GS being his current motorcycle of choice.

Dunn succeeds Andreas Lundgren, who has been appointed Managing Director of BMW Financial Services in New Zealand. Lundgren’s leadership saw BMW Motorrad Australia achieve significant sales growth and transformation, culminating in its record-breaking performance in 2024.

“We thank Andreas for his outstanding contributions, which leave BMW Motorrad Australia in a position of strength,” said Buechel of Lundgren’s contributions to the brand.
