Almost 1800 examples of popular German small car and SUV struck with software fault
Volkswagen Australia has today announced a nationwide product safety recall for two models due to a potential seatbelt-related software fault.
A total of 1799 vehicles are affected by the recall, which covers 2021-built examples of the VW Polo light hatch and its closely-related small SUV sibling, the VW T-Cross.

Volkswagen says the software fault could result in the seatbelt warning system not operating as intended.
As a result, drivers of affected vehicles may not be made aware – either visually or audibly – that a passenger has not fastened their seatbelt, increasing the risk of injury or death if the vehicle is involved in an accident.
Owners of affected Polo and T-Cross models are being asked to contact their local Volkswagen dealership to schedule an appointment to have the vehicle inspected and the issue rectified, free of charge.
