The inaugural Chief Executive Officer of ANCAP, Nicholas Clarke, has passed away.
Nicholas (Nick) Clarke served as ANCAP’s Chief Executive Officer from January 2012 to September 2015, following on from his long-term role as ANCAP Business Manager that he held from 2005.
Mr Clarke’s early involvement with ANCAP saw him work to establish ANCAP as an Incorporated entity in 2006, bringing together the shared interests and objectives of a broader Australian and New Zealand membership.
He played a key part in developing awareness of the ANCAP five-star crash safety ratings program for consumers, as well as the implementation in 2012 of the ASEAN NCAP program for South-East Asia.

Incorporation in 2006 was a critical milestone for ANCAP, with Nick’s determination to consolidate member involvement, drive consumer recognition, and push the automotive industry in support of improvements to vehicle safety across Australia, New Zealand and the broader ASEAN region.
Nick was a fearless and passionate advocate for safer vehicles, with his work and genuine mentoring and leadership of others leading to the saving of many lives and a reduction in injuries.
The foundation Nick established has allowed ANCAP to become the well-recognised and respected independent voice of vehicle safety it is today.
All Australian and New Zealand road users have benefited from Nick’s contribution.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, their children and grandchildren.
