carsales Quarterly Update: A Robust Start to 2024

Our Q1 2024 update includes a host of valuable insights, covering market trends, the NVES policy evolution, cyber security best practices, and key product developments.

The first quarter of 2024 proved to be a success for carsales, mirroring the positive momentum seen across the wider automotive market. With supply chain improvements easing pressure and the enduring popularity of light commercials and SUVs, the industry has flourished with record sales figures.

NVES Developments: Seeking Clarity

The New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) remained a central topic of discussion, both for carsales and the industry at large. As the first quarter unfolded, there was a flurry of debate surrounding the standard. However, the federal government has since indicated a willingness to compromise on certain aspects of the proposed NVES policy. Notably, large SUVs are now expected to adhere to the same emissions targets as light commercial vehicles, a change largely welcomed by the industry.

At carsales, we understand the potential for confusion surrounding the NVES. We remain dedicated to deciphering information from various sources, providing clarity, and keeping our dealer and OEM partners fully informed.

Cyber Security: A Top Priority

carsales teams in Q1 2024 emphasized the critical importance of robust cyber security for our dealers. Implementing strong data security measures not only protects your vital business information but also plays a significant role in establishing and maintaining customer trust.

To support these efforts, we’re thrilled to announce major updates to Blocko, our innovative spam lead mitigation tool.  Mid-April will see the rollout of a thoroughly revised ruleset, effectively doubling Blocko’s efficiency. In tandem with this automation, we’re training a dedicated team of specialists to manually assess potentially suspicious leads flagged by Blocko. This two-faceted approach aims to deliver an unprecedented level of accuracy, saving dealer staff valuable time and minimizing the distractions caused by false leads.

Product Enhancements: Driving Efficiency

We continued to invest in our LiveMarket product suite in Q1, reflecting our commitment to provide market-leading data and insights solutions. Last quarter, we launched a whole new valuations interface that’s not only faster but also shows richer data like carsales Instant Offer and Trade-In indexes. We‘ve got some more big, exciting things coming down the pipeline from LiveMarket soon, and can’t wait to share the work we’ve been doing on that with you in the coming months.

We’ve also taken a pass over our marquee product, AutoGate, finding new ways to integrate more of our dealer solutions into one place. AutoGate is now the home of our appraisal solutions tool, allowing our dealers to handle vehicles from sourcing through to completion all in the one platform. We’ve also begun integrating with Dealer Drive, starting with the carsales SELECT program, with the goal of incorporating test drive bookings into AutoGate too.

These enhancements underscore carsales’ commitment to continuous innovation and the long-term success of our valued dealer partners.
